Next Friday, March 28th we’ll be returning to Winnipeg and the Park Theatre to play JUNOfest! We’re onstage at 11:00 PM. So, if you’re in the city, come and check us out! It should be a fun weekend with lots of great Canadian bands.
Lots of activity in the world of the Wilderness of Manitoba. First of all, thanks to everyone who came out to the shows on our recent Western Canadian tour! We were super excited to see so many of you. We promise to tour all of Canada in the fall when our new album comes out! Speaking of which, the sessions at Revolution Recording in Toronto have been going really well. We’ve got thirteen tracks down and are doing vocals and overdubs. Can’t wait to share the new songs with you. We will be taking a break soon and heading first to Chicago to play Schubas on Sunday, March 9th and then down to Austin for three shows at SXSW. Bring on the sun and the warm weather!
Hey, everybody. We’re really excited to tell you that we have been nominated for a JUNO! It’s in the category of Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group. We’re looking forward to being in Winnipeg for the JUNO weekend. In the meantime, for those of you who live in Winnipeg, we’ll be playing the Park Theatre next Thursday, February 13th. The Wilderness of Manitoba kicks off the new year with Western Canadian tour dates followed by another appearance at SXSW in Austin and some Ontario and Quebec dates. The band also starts recording its fourth album at Revolution Recording in Toronto before heading out west. The Wilderness of Manitoba announces a special Toronto show at the Glass Room at the Royal Ontario Museum on November 22nd. It’s part of its Friday Night Live series of events. Entitled “Get Wild”, the evening at the museum includes a new exhibition called Wildlife Photographer of the Year, a celebration of nature and wildlife through “stunning and surprising photography”; a performance by spoken word poet/author/actor and journalist Duke Redbird; a meet and greet with photographers from the Environmental Video Commission and an opportunity to have your picture taken at the ROM Wildlife Photo Studio! Doors are at 7:00 PM and tickets can be bought at the ROM or through their website. Adults are $12, students are $10 and ROM members are free.
It was announced yesterday that the Wilderness of Manitoba has been nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards. They are up for the Pushing the Boundaries Award and the Vocal Group of the Year Award. The awards ceremony is being held in Calgary on November 10th.

The Wilderness of Manitoba will be playing an intimate show at the Official Residence of the Canadian Consul General in Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 16th. Los Angeles based music supervisors have been invited to this Canadian Blast event that also includes a performance by Basia Bulat. For those of you living in the Toronto area, we wanted to let you know that we’re playing a free show in the gazebo at St. James Park on Wednesday, July 4th starting at 7:00 PM. The park is located behind St. James Cathedral near the corner of Church Street and King Street East. It’s Independence Day and a great way to kick off the summer!
